The Ha'penny Bridge, looking across to the Merchants Arch, Temple Bar. Before the Ha'penny Bridge was built there were seven ferries, operated by a William Walsh, across the Liffey. Walsh was informed that he had build a bridge across the Liffey, He was granted the right to extract a half penny toll from anyone crossing it for 100 years, the toll was abolished in 1919.
